Open Enrollment application forms will be available beginning March 1 for parents interested in sending a child to a school other than his/her current school of residence. The first window for School of Choice (SOC) runs Thursday, March 1 through Friday, March 30. Applications must be returned NO later than 3 p.m. on the deadline date. Applications can be obtained at all OUSD school sites or the district’s Educational Support Services (ESS) office, located at 2080 Mission Ave. Approval of SOC is based on attendance and satisfactory behavior/citizenship during the current school year. All SOC applications are reviewed based on priority criteria and school capacity. If your child is currently a part of SOC and will be attending the same school next year, you do not need to reapply. Students on Interdistrict Attendance Permits no longer need to re-apply for renewal unless the student is matriculating to middle or high school. This form can be obtained at the child’s school of residence. Please note that Interdistrict requests must be submitted to and will only be accepted at the ESS Office. Faxes or e-mail will not be accepted for SOC or transfer requests. If you have any questions, please call the district at 760-966-7849. Wellness Policy The OUSD Student Wellness Policy focuses on nutrition and physical education. Foods and beverages sold to students through the district’s child nutrition program, student stores, vending machines and fundraisers meet or exceed state and federal nutrition standards. Good Grades Pay for Military Students!Students in grades 6-12 and home school students who attain an overall B average (3.0) for the grading period are eligible to participate. Bring your report card to the MCX within 30 days after each grading period. Eligible students will receive a scratch-off card with a guaranteed prize! *Students are only allowed one scratch off card per grading period. Winner must be an authorized MCX patron.
